In preparation for endgame, the mods will be preparing a suite of gods for characters to rescue from across the multiverse. We are offering here the opportunity to have a god and challenges personalized for you for Part II of endgame. Fill in the form below and one of the mods will respond to you with a god, a world to rescue, and prompts for some of the challenges characters will encounter in their quest. We are offering the opportunity to personalize one god per character (if you have multiple characters, please fill in the form for each of them, individually).

Please fill in the form for your characters by 14 June, 11:59 PM PST. We will be responding with information from the 15 June to 4 July.

If you do not get a personalized god, DO NOT FRET! There will be opportunities to rescue other gods during endgame! This is just for folks who would like us to tailor a god for them.

A new NPC starter has appeared: Bren is in the Meadous and back in her right mind, at least for the moment. Her twin, Tren, remains Lost as far as the gods are able to tell. Bren's improved condition is thanks to Gabriel's discovery that Okota's Wheel, a totem of Instinct, can be used to reawaken godly instincts.

Time is running short for Penumbra and its gods. The world is growing increasingly unstable, with disastrous results for its residents and visitors. New NPC/Exploration prompts are available as the disaster unfolds, as well as a sandbox option for coping with this supernatural disaster.

Meanwhile, something potentially even worse has happened: Zephyr's their flock have been caught red-handed by the godling's parents. Head over to the event's Network Communications header to face the wrath of the gods!

On April 25, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside. Regardless of whether or not a character can normally read, they are able to understand it, though the writing is hurried and messy.

Everyone,

Something really bad has happened. My brother Tren is Lost and it's making his twin sister, Bren, really sick. I can't find him, but I can hear him! I think we can still help him but I can't do it by myself. Please come to the playground as quick as you can!

As of the morning of March 28th, characters will find this letter on their nightstands and or by their beds. A letter that everyone will find themselves capable of reading, whether or not they usually have that ability.

Everybody,

While I appreciate everyone’s excitement, let’s not do that again =:(

The aetherometers and all the experimenting nearly tore the Meadous apart. I fixed it quickly as I could to make sure everyone and everything is safe.

The magic wasn’t supposed to do any of that. I hope everyone is okay! If you need anything please talk with me, I'm always here for all of you.

I’ve buried the lines much deeper now, but please let’s not do that again. I'm not mad at anyone since this wasn't supposed to happen, but we all learned not to do this kind of thing in the future.

Love,
Zephyr

Everyone,

Aleus and Ienzo have been working extra hard recently! Ienzo was telling me about what they’re doing and it sounds really interesting. The more I hear about it, the cooler it seems!

They’ve made aetherometers for everyone to help them look around the Meadous for magic in the land.

Talk to them if you want to help =:) I’m excited to see what everyone finds.

Love,
Zephyr

As with so many happenings in the Meadous, it starts with a letter, one that everyone will find themselves capable of reading, whether or not they usually have that ability. It's accompanied by an extra envelop, as well as a new application on everyone's communications device labeled H2H with a heart icon above it.

Everyone,

I hope you have a lovely day of love! I've not always got Valentine's Day right, but I think I've got it now. Tyvn, Lally, and I have been working on a new little app and we wanted to test drive it with all of you. It's got mechanical and magical components like our new network system, so bear with me while we work out any kinks.

I've got paper forms, digital forms, and ways for you to fill in profiles just via answering questions. Whatever is easiest for you. Heart 2 Heart is a new friend matcher. Or maybe a little more if you're really feeling like you want to hold your special person's hand. =;3 We're trialing it for this week. If you decide to participate, you can create a profile for yourself (or help each other)!

The profiles will be available for everyone to look at on the network OR, if you feel like coming out a bit, we'll be having a party at the Rec Center with profiles posted up around. The Stain is offering free coffee, tea, and cocoa, and I've got some couples activities planned. I hope everyone likes it! The application will try to match you up with likely friendship matches, so maybe you can make a new friend.

Love,
Zephyr

Within the envelop is, indeed, a form to fill in. Or maybe you just want to go through the app. Either way, you've got options for getting yourself a profile! Or creating one for someone else. There doesn't seem to be a limit to the number you can create...

As with so many happenings in the Meadous, it starts with a letter, one that everyone will find themselves capable of reading, whether or not they usually have that ability. It's a simple one, at least:

Everyone,

Check out the box that's tagged with your name. I've been in touch with Madame from the CUR13 Station, and she wanted to send something to you guys. I know everyone's been getting... maybe a little grumpy about having to go out with the snow to check the Bulletin Board, so, there's a little something new. A few of you who visited Tyvn's world might remember something like this.

Madame's left a little game to play to get you started. I hope everyone has fun! =:3

Love,
Zephyr

Upon opening the box, everyone will find customized communications devices! Turning them on is intuitive, no matter the character, and they'll find that there are basic text, voice, and video options. The Bulletin Board is as it has always been, but now people will find that public text conversation on the network magically appear there as lines of sticky notes. If someone posts a message physically to the board on this chain, that will then also show up on the network.

Madame will be posting a game to the network as a starter, but from that point forward, it's any characters to do with as they please.

The votes are in! The three most popular measures discussed by Zephyr’s flock were:
  • Demand payment for the resources taken by the Beetles
  • Teach the Beetles to trade and establish trade relations
  • Identify the agitators in the Beetle population and evict them, specifically, from the village

While violence was considered a viable option by a large contingent of residents, it was a highly contentious approach with multiple characters staunchly opposed. Suggestions to placate the Beetles with wished-for items or to relocate them to the Mirror Dimension proved highly unpopular. Total eviction of the Beetles from the village on at least a temporary basis was a moderately popular idea. Finally, the proposal to refuse to give the Beetles anything at all was undermined by lack of buy-in from a majority of the villagers.

RESULTS:

The villagers have been able to lay down the law—no more will the Beetles steal from the village and demand tribute for allowing the flock to use their own buildings!

Whether by acts of violence or simple manipulation, the villagers have made it clear that all resources taken from the village must be purchased, and have established a trading post just outside the border with the northern jungle (along the path to the beach) where the Beetles may trade with the villagers. Thanks to several characters’ efforts to train the Beetles in the arts of trade, sharing, and general decent behavior, the villagers had a head start on setting up this arrangement. They also are perhaps more willing than they might have been to retreat from the village due to threats that their own home might be invaded and their things stolen—not to mention the threats (or outright acts) of violence from a few villagers. The Beetles do continue to make use of the Giant Flower Forest, though they are much less inclined to throw rocks or demand tribute of people from the village.

Specific agitators among the Beetle population were targeted for eviction from the village right away, and when it was made clear to the rest of the Beetles that they would all be actively chased or relocated out of the village if they didn’t cooperate, they began policing themselves—now the Beetles themselves are working to keep their own troublemakers confined to the jungle lest they ruin it for everyone. This is due in no small part to the Beetles’ newfound love of visiting the museum and their desire to see the new exhibit about themselves.

SETTING CHANGES:

1. The Beetles now have a trading post along the path to the beach, where characters can trade trinkets, food, or other things for items collected or made by the Beetles. Beetle-made items tend to be crudely/clumsily made, but their decorative objects have some measure of creativity and this is a way to obtain tropical fruits. The Beetles are also willing to trade their old molted exoskeletons, though they think it’s very funny that anyone would want those. The Beetles especially like chocolate, tools, and shiny things.

2. Beetles will continue to periodically venture into the village, though no longer in large numbers. While an occasional bad apple may commit an act of petty theft, for the most part they do a good job of policing each other. Mostly they like to visit the museum, and they are highly interested in taking tours of anything a villager cares to show them. They no longer set up checkpoints and demand tribute. The number of Beetle visitors declines sharply at the onset of winter. They are creatures of the jungle and won't venture far into the village during this season unless they can trade for warm winter clothing.

3. Zephyr has once again restored the guard tower. As of this posting, the large scolding signs are still in Royce and Alfie’s yard and will remain until they both apologize for what they did.

Hello friends! With the calendar period for Beetle Mania officially over, it's time to cast your vote as to how your character will deal with this problem! Please comment below with what action(s) your character is taking at this point regarding the Beetles. Please submit your responses by December 21, 11:59 PST. A final summary will go up on December 22, dependent upon the decisions made here.

Suggestions brought up during the town meeting include at time of writing:
  • Violence!!
  • Denying the Beetles access to easily dependable resources in the village
  • Requiring the Beetles to pay for use of the village and/or its resources
  • Banishing the Beetles to the Mirror Dimension
  • Wishing for nicer things for the Beetles to have at their home in the jungle
  • Refusing to give the Beetles anything at all
  • Identifying the agitators among the Beetle population and evicting them, specifically, from the village
  • Teaching the Beetles to trade for the things they want
You may post updates or modifications to your decisions up to the deadline, so feel free to turn this into an OOC discussion. Remember, there is no right or wrong answer here and you're not limited to the options listed above--but what your characters do will, as always, influence Zephyr and the world of the Meadous. If you have any questions you'd like answered OOCly, please ask those in the comments below under the header provided.

It's time for a town meeting! Stephen Strange has put out the call. If your character would like to argue about discuss solutions to the current Beetle situation, the place to do that is at the Meeting Tent...in the Mirror Dimension.

Although Stephen is the one who called the meeting, player characters need not look to him as a leader in this matter. Feel free to threadjack, hijack the discussion, break off into multiple threads, and whatever else your heart desires.

Thanks to Royce and Alfie, the flag planted atop the guard tower by the Beetles is gone! Unfortunately, so is the guard tower.

Thanks to an act of arson and a distinct lack of firefighting effort, the entire guard tower has burned down. That's kind of good news since it means the Beetles can't throw rocks from up there! Too bad they'll just find something else to climb for shouting and rock-throwing purposes.

Setting and Prompt Updates:
  • The guard tower is naught but ash and the charred remains of many fake limbs.
  • The Beetles have begun climbing various other tallish structures. If your character has already gotten in a physical fight with them, particularly if your character won that fight, feel free to assume that the Beetles start throwing rocks on sight.
  • Some of the Beetles have started hanging out in the museum. They seem to be legitimately enjoying the exhibits, though they are loud and obnoxious visitors in general.

As for Royce and Alfie:

Everyone will get to enjoy the sight of several signs on their lawn that read: "We start fires and don't put them out" and "We burned down the guard tower and didn't even try not to do it."

Both of them will find themselves being followed around by copies of a children's story book. It is entitled Royce and Alfie Make a Mess, and has two cats on the cover (one small and black, one bigger with bushy brown fur), looking guilty as they sit atop a destroyed settee in a room where torn wallpaper is peeling off the walls. In the story, the two cats find a mouse to chase in the house. The mouse keeps getting away by climbing on or under furniture and then taunting them. On each page, the black cat responds by destroying the furniture--knocking over stands with fragile decorations on them, tearing open the mattress on the bed, and so forth--while the brown cat eggs him on and sometimes helps. The mouse gets away unharmed every time, but the house is left in more and more disarray. Their animal friends try to get the two cats to stop, but they keep chasing the mouse until the entire house is a wreck. The mouse still gets away in the end, and the cats have to fix everything they broke.

This book will continue to follow each of them until they read it and will also be available in the library indefinitely for anyone else who wants to go and look at it. All of the current residents of the Meadous are represented in the story at some point, mostly as various species one would expect to see as household pets.

Sporadic attacks by the Beetle Tribe on the people of the Meadous over the last months have resulted in bruises from rocks as well as extortion of shoelaces and jewelry. An intrepid group of residents have recently set out to make contact with the Beetles in order to better understand them and perhaps to broker a peace. Or, you know, start a gang war. Same difference.

Trouble is, the Beetles have been looking to expand their territory, and all this coming and going from the village has given them ideas. On December 11, the Beetle Tribe will descend upon the village in force. Better fight them back, pay them off, or talk them down if you don't want to be driven out of your homes!

BEETLE MANIA

The Events Calendar post for the plot is HERE

This is a week-long NPC-driven event. Characters will face an onslaught of anthropomorphic, three-foot-tall beetles who want to take their stuff and claim the village as their territory. This is not something Zephyr has planned or facilitated for their flock; their only involvement is having been responsible for the creation of the Beetles in the first place.

There will be a variety of prompts for characters to interact with the Beetles, as well as opportunities to strategize among themselves. This will include a prompt for those characters who originally volunteered to help seek the Beetles out.

Which Mod is running this plot?
Kathryn
is in charge of this plot with support from the other mods.

May I opt out?
While all characters who remain in the Village will be impacted by the event, your character may choose not to confront the Beetles, whether that means holing up at home or taking a vacation elsewhere in the Meadous while others deal with it.

Can we talk to Zephyr?
Zephyr will be available through the usual means, but will largely let their Flock work this one out on their own.

Who is going on the expedition to meet the Beetles?
As that prompt will oocly run concurrently with threads that icly take place later in the event and I would like to keep the expedition thread(s) running quickly and smoothly to avoid delays on IC knowledge, I request that only characters who volunteered on the October bulletin board join the expedition. All characters will have opportunities to grapple with the Beetle problem during the remainder of the event.

How many characters can be in a thread?
There is no limit on how many characters can team up in any given thread. Just keep in mind that large group threads may take longer to resolve, and be sure to communicate with the other players when deciding whether to tag into a thread already in progress.

Can we use powers during this event?
Any special powers or items characters possess will remain at the usual limitations found within the Meadous--as this is not a world hop, the training wheels are still on.

Can my character get injured/killed?
While characters can be injured in any fighting that goes on, Zephyr will step in and prevent anyone from getting fatally wounded.

Can we injure/kill the Beetles?
The Beetles are tough little guys; their carapaces seem to repel both physical and magical attacks. That being said, it's not impossible to hurt them, but Zephyr will also be stepping in to prevent any Beetles from getting killed.

A final update on the Metronome excursion! All pieces of the Gilarabrywn weapons were returned to their rightful owners, per the deadline in the Update #1 Post. Congrats, team! You done good and the Gilarabrywn will remember that. For those who helped them, they will each receive a token from the Gilarabrywn whose weapon they helped to return.
  • Blackwater - An ice sculpture that will not melt, no matter the temperature.
  • Thrace - A mini-fountain that always flows with clean water.
  • DeLancey - A prized rosebush that will allow the character to grow the ever-blooming, never-wilting flowers of Vhaendath in the Meadous, if they so choose.
  • Vil - A vile of poison that will induce a death-like state for three days (1-use only).
The gummi ship is in substantially worse shape than when they left and it's going to take an extra day for Rwar to get it up and running. Given that Eliza also went out of her way to save and protect Rwar, the Moomba is now a Friend Forever to those who helped to rescue the gummi ship. They will receive an especially warm welcome and excellent service at the Moomba resort on the Lagoon Island.

A recap of discoveries from this trip:
  • Color has spread throughout the whole universe that the Meadous inhabits. It's not just on the planet where the village is.
  • Color has many motivations. Violet led the Clefairy down to Vhaendath to steal the weapons for some mischievous fun; however, other Colors and even Violet, itself, assisted in finding the weapons.
  • Color can be used to effectively guide characters who decide they want to make use of it... and trust it to what is lost.

Hey Team!

I will be continuing to tag people's weapons exploration/collection threads for the next two weeks, but in the name of getting things ICly wrapped up, we have some updates for you and need some updates FROM you! Below, there's a section to chime in if your character will not be willingly giving back their piece of the Gilarabrywn weapon they've hunted down. Other players can chime back with ways they might try to convince your character and you guys can play that out. By the end of this week 12/6 11:59 PM PST, please note if any of the pieces are still missing/someone hasn't been convinced to give up their piece. It will make a difference in the wrap-up!

Additionally, we had the Gummi Ship Rescue occur. We tried something a little different for this one. The Discord has the full explanation, but we set up dice rolls to gauge how damaged (or intact) the gummi ship would be with the efforts the characters put in to rescue it. For the players, we added a modifier based on character dice rolls to help the ship.

Character Rescue Modifiers
1 - Whatever your character did, it ended up HURTING the rescue effort. -1 penalty.
2-4 - Character neither helped nor hindered the rescue. No penalty or bonus.
5-19 - Character helped the rescue effort! +1 bonus
20 - Character massively helped the rescue effort! +2 bonus

Eliza - Rolled 4 - No penalty or bonus
Gamora - Rolled 14 - +1 bonus
Gordon - Rolled 14 - +1 bonus

Total Modifier - +2 bonus

Gummi Ship Rescue
1 - The ship is just completely destroyed and unusable.
2-5 - The ship is in really bad shape and is going to need some serious repairs.
6-14 - The ship is moderately damaged and needs some good elbow grease to get it going.
15-19 - The ship is only lightly damaged and still mostly fine, just superficially damaged.
20 - You have managed to virtually mitigate all damage and the ship is still in amazing shape. Just needs some cleaning up inside.

Gummi Ship - Rolled 7
Modifier - +2 bonus
Total Gummi Ship - 9 (moderate damage)

Characters will need to do some work on the ship (with Rwar's guidance) to get it up and running, but you'll ultimately be able to get back to the Meadous with it... mostly intact.

On November 15th, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside. Those who can measure their time in the Meadous in months or more may recognize the short, direct style and what it means the moment they lay eyes on it. Or they might think they know what's going on. This one is just a little different. A shriek rings out across the stars.

Everyone,

Vhaendath is in trouble. It's one of the planets all of you helped me to create. The Clefairy have stolen the weapons the Gilarabrywn protect and they're not giving them back. This is bad. It's really, really bad. The Gilarabrywn are like dragons and they're rampaging, trying to find the weapons. We have to do something, but I've been trying not to stick my hands too much in the middle of it. I really don't want one of your planets to die. Please help? I told the Gilarabrywn we'd help so they'd stop destroying things. =:(

Please meet in the meadow south of the village tomorrow at 3:00pm. I know that's really early for some of you guys who are nocturnal, but this can't wait very long. I'll have the gummi ship you guys helped build ready to go so we can fly anyone who wants to go over there.

Love,
Zephyr

As many have already discovered, Color has been discovered in the deep portions of the ocean. Eliza has opened a group discussion on the Bulletin Board for those who might want to get involved.

Color is and was a major component of We the Lost's first world hop event in 2017: I Fell in Love with the Majesty of Colors (OOC Post & IC Post).

We will continue to play out mod interactions, but from this point forward, Color will be present in the Meadous as wisps that can potentially be collected by those who wish to do so. They'll be free floating or you might be able to gain some wisps by tracking down an animal (any animal) that appears to contain color. This will be obvious based on the fact that their eyes will glow with the particular color they hold.

What is the point of tracking down colors? Well! They grant fabulous (temporary) abilities.
  • Gold - Animals will trust and approach you. Be the Disney prince or princess you've always dreamed of.
  • Silver - Enhanced efficiency at all tasks.
  • Emerald - The body becomes more resistant to damage and heals with inhuman speed.
  • Crimson - The body becomes more powerful, granting super strength.
  • Violet - Inspiration will be enhanced, perhaps allowing someone to solve a problem or think up a new creative project in a snap.
  • Amber - Your senses are increased tenfold, giving you insights you might not have otherwise had.
  • Azure - The body becomes faster, granting super speed.
Each character will find that they are most affiliated with up to three colors. (The one exception is if your character helps to free a specific color they wouldn't typically be affiliated with during the event. They will have an extra connection to that color.) You can check HERE to help you decide which colors those would be. Everyone can collect any color, but those characters are most affiliated with will be easiest to find and provide them the biggest and longest-lasting (up to a day) boost to their abilities.

Another aspect of the colors is that they seem to enjoy leading characters to places. Each color has its own agenda, though.
  • Gold - Will help you find the nicest places in the Meadous.
  • Silver - Will take you exactly where you want to go on the shortest path possible.
  • Emerald - Will lead you to safe places to hide.
  • Crimson - Will lead you into a fight or other challenge.
  • Violet - Will lead you to something that will be an 'adventure.'
  • Amber - Will lead you to good food.
  • Azure - Will simply lead you on a merry chase without really going anywhere.

On the 7th of September, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside along with a colorful seashell on a piece of jewelry (whatever the character would most like). The note will read as follows:

Hi Everyone,

We've been looking up at space a lot lately, but we have a new class assignment to work on one part of our world that hasn't been heavily developed, yet. I was thinking that the ocean is a lot like space, but much easier to get to for everyone. You can just walk to it. I've also got a group assignment with Blue for this one, so I'm helping with their land space and they're helping with my oceans. And we want all of you to help both of us.

I've left a little space below for you to write down something you'd like to see in the oceans of the Meadous, whether that's a whole species, a race of monsters, special types of materials, rock formations. Whatever you want! It doesn't even have to be something that exists in your world. It can just be something you've always wanted. If you write it down, you just might see it. =;3

And to make it a little easier for everyone to enjoy the ocean while you're thinking of ideas, I've left you a little accessory. When you put it on this week, whatever water you walk into that's deep enough to submerge in, you'll turn into a creature that can survive underwater! Mermaids and mermen, selkies, kelpies, all sorts of creatures. Whatever makes the most sense for you, really. I'll put up a message on the Bulletin Board for everyone to talk about it. I can't wait for this.

Love,
Zephyr

P.S. If there are things you think we should change about the oceans, let me know.
