Seven years. You've found friends, healed old wounds, gotten into petty squabbles with neighbors, and saved entire worlds and civilizations. Along the way you've worked together to raise what was once just a little entity with bad spelling into a full-fledged god who learned their kindness and their zeal from the characters you, our players, brought into this world. A game is nothing without its players, and we thank you for joining us on this journey no matter how long or how short your time here.

With the game's anniversary upon us and the successful rescue of a slew of gods and their worlds, it is time for us to say goodbye as your moderators. However, though this chapter of the story has come to an end, We the Lost and the world of the Meadous remain open for your use as a sandbox. We hope you'll remember your time in the game fondly and take advantage of the IC community for ongoing open play.

Once again, our co-mods and helper-mods through the years deserve a special thank you: Ink, Amanda, Michi, Flurry, QV, and Hydok. You made this all possible.

With gratitude,
Sora, Terri, Kathryn...and Zephyr

In preparation for endgame, the mods will be preparing a suite of gods for characters to rescue from across the multiverse. We are offering here the opportunity to have a god and challenges personalized for you for Part II of endgame. Fill in the form below and one of the mods will respond to you with a god, a world to rescue, and prompts for some of the challenges characters will encounter in their quest. We are offering the opportunity to personalize one god per character (if you have multiple characters, please fill in the form for each of them, individually).

Please fill in the form for your characters by 14 June, 11:59 PM PST. We will be responding with information from the 15 June to 4 July.

If you do not get a personalized god, DO NOT FRET! There will be opportunities to rescue other gods during endgame! This is just for folks who would like us to tailor a god for them.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank everyone for their participation in the latest event, Penumbra. Characters were able to make their first successful rescue of a god from being Lost! The seed of the idea for this event has been in the works for roughly a year and half and marks the beginning of the final chapter for We the Lost.

We are entering endgame from this point forward and intend to wrap up the game and leave it as a sandbox for folks to play in at their leisure by August. This will be WtL's 7th anniversary, and we think that's a pretty good high point to end on. Endgame events will begin in mid-June and ICly involve:
  • Characters traveling to and through the Lost dimension.
  • Rescuing Lost gods (and potentially people) that have disappeared from across the multiverse.
  • Permanently opening the Meadous as a hub world for travel between different worlds/dimensions.
  • Zephyr growing from an adolescent to a mature god (don't worry, they'll still be small, cute, and fluffy; this is more a power change than a physical one.
Check HERE for more on all of the pieces that have come together for this. We hope it will help introduce concepts to newer players and jog memories for older players.

OOCly, the following changes will be made for endgame starting from this point forward:
  • Activity Check will now be a simple check-in.
  • Characters may make wishes (within reason) without needing to contribute points or receive mod approval. If you want to do something big like changing the setting or getting a fantastical magic item, please just shoot the mods a PM!
  • All previous residents of the Meadous are welcome to rejoin the comms and play out endgame with us, but we will be closing WtL to brand new applicants.
All of that said, we’d also like to extend a special thanks to our co-mods and helper mods through the years: Ink, Amanda, Michi, Flurry, QV, and Hydok. None of this would have been possible without them or all of you.

All Our Appreciation,
Sora, Terri, and Kathryn

Hey Team,

As we've gotten a bit smaller and a bit slower, we've come to recognize that we need to make some changes to the AC system to streamline things for both us and players. Below are the new AC rules that will take effect for March 2020 and onward. Please fill in February AC as usual, according to the old rules.

The poll results are in!

ExpandRead more... )

What this essentially means is that players will now decide OOCly between themselves on what punishments their characters would ICly request for anything that violates the rules of the Meadous. Zephyr will technically be administering the punishment, but their involvement will be handwaved as them asking the injured party what they want done.

For anything that will affect a large number of characters (e.g., public building destruction or murder), we'd still ask that you give the mods a heads up about it so we can make sure it works. Otherwise, the leash is off and Zephyr will only be applying punishments that victims think is appropriate with a few small caveats. They will not physically injure, psychically alter, or kill anyone, even if a victim is requesting it as a punishment.

After a heated debate on the Bulletin Board/network, some ideas have emerged for changes to the current justice system in the Meadous. Voting should preferably be IC, but if your character doesn't have an opinion, feel free to make it an OOC vote. You can take the survey multiple times for different characters.

Survey closes Feb 28, 11:59 PM PST. We will announce the results and any OOC changes to the rules and how things will be functioning on Feb 29!

Hey Team,

A double update here to say we have our Events Calendar updated through January and we'll be bringing you our December event starting next week! This is a follow-on to some player plots that have been percolating and we're excited to finally get to bring it to you. Thank you to everyone involved who let us delay a tiny bit to work this into our modplot for the month.

Additionally, we'd like to announce a holiday gift to all of you:

Free AC for December!

For those with Saves from November, you may either post your Save AC in December if you want to clear that, or you may wait to make your Save AC until January.

Happy holidays, everyone, and safe travels for those heading off by planes, trains, and automobiles to visit family!

The local sea monster requested a few characters help her come up with names and a conversation about that was posted on the board. It is time to decide, Meadous...

Choose your sea monster's name!

Please fill in the survey by 11:59 PM PST on October 5th. We will announce the winner the following day and it will be the name the sea monster chooses ICly. Please feel free to vote with your heart for a name here. It doesn't need to be an IC vote.

As many have already discovered, Color has been discovered in the deep portions of the ocean. Eliza has opened a group discussion on the Bulletin Board for those who might want to get involved.

Color is and was a major component of We the Lost's first world hop event in 2017: I Fell in Love with the Majesty of Colors (OOC Post & IC Post).

We will continue to play out mod interactions, but from this point forward, Color will be present in the Meadous as wisps that can potentially be collected by those who wish to do so. They'll be free floating or you might be able to gain some wisps by tracking down an animal (any animal) that appears to contain color. This will be obvious based on the fact that their eyes will glow with the particular color they hold.

What is the point of tracking down colors? Well! They grant fabulous (temporary) abilities.
  • Gold - Animals will trust and approach you. Be the Disney prince or princess you've always dreamed of.
  • Silver - Enhanced efficiency at all tasks.
  • Emerald - The body becomes more resistant to damage and heals with inhuman speed.
  • Crimson - The body becomes more powerful, granting super strength.
  • Violet - Inspiration will be enhanced, perhaps allowing someone to solve a problem or think up a new creative project in a snap.
  • Amber - Your senses are increased tenfold, giving you insights you might not have otherwise had.
  • Azure - The body becomes faster, granting super speed.
Each character will find that they are most affiliated with up to three colors. (The one exception is if your character helps to free a specific color they wouldn't typically be affiliated with during the event. They will have an extra connection to that color.) You can check HERE to help you decide which colors those would be. Everyone can collect any color, but those characters are most affiliated with will be easiest to find and provide them the biggest and longest-lasting (up to a day) boost to their abilities.

Another aspect of the colors is that they seem to enjoy leading characters to places. Each color has its own agenda, though.
  • Gold - Will help you find the nicest places in the Meadous.
  • Silver - Will take you exactly where you want to go on the shortest path possible.
  • Emerald - Will lead you to safe places to hide.
  • Crimson - Will lead you into a fight or other challenge.
  • Violet - Will lead you to something that will be an 'adventure.'
  • Amber - Will lead you to good food.
  • Azure - Will simply lead you on a merry chase without really going anywhere.

Hey, team,

Sora here, I wanted to let you guys know I’ll be taking a step back from the RPing as a player, but I will still be on board in a modly capacity. Toriel will be dropped, but all my characters in retirement will remain.

Essentially, there will be no real changes to our mod team as it is now. I’ll be here to help you guys and ensure WTL is a fun and lively place it has been for the past six years.

I’m always here if you have any questions or concerns. So don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Additionally, please remember to turn in your Activity Check by August 7th! Make your Helper Mods happy!

Thank you everyone for participating in the Paint the Sky event. Because of the efforts of the characters, there are some big changes coming to the Meadous.

ONE: Planets
There are now nine new planets in the sky. They're broken up into clusters so that there are three within each others' general vicinity; though, they each have their own star system.

Clusters
1. Safari World, Mecca, Potato Planet
2. Vhaendath, Machina, The Light Lands
3. Coney Planet, Video Game World, Ninja World

TWO: Night Sky Perks
Thanks to everyone's efforts, ALL perks have been achieved. The following will be adjusted based on the perks:

1. New stars have been added that are in a full rainbow of colors.
2. A new race of giant, intelligent space creatures now exist (these will be intro'd in a future event, but characters are free to notice something large and dark moving among the stars)
3. There is now an elevator to the moon located out in the Giant Flower Forest. It takes about half an hour to get up or come down, but at least the elevator music can be adjusted to taste. The moon rabbits eye you with mild suspicion, but are otherwise friendly.
4. There are now wormholes that will take you from one planet cluster area to another.

THREE: Poll Questions
  1. There is now air to breathe in space. It is thinner than within a planet's atmosphere, but it's enough that it's survivable, if a little uncomfortable for those who aren't prepared for it.

  2. It's possible to travel faster than light, but you need a ship.

  3. There is wildlife in space. Think Subnautica critters, but with a space bend. Espio said there were fish! And so, it's mainly fish-themed up here. There are also Meadous-themed Clefairy that hang out near the moons of various planets. (Thank you to QV for the drawing!) These Clefairy can be seen dancing on the Meadous' moon for those who visit.

  4. The Meadous will, from this point forward, be a heliocentric universe. There are larger stars with planets that orbit the star. This is a major shift from the current existence, which has been geocentric up until this point. SORRY ASTRONOMERS FOR YOUR LIFE AND YOUR CHOICES.

  5. A mysterious ancient civilization has left gates around the universe. Most of these just go from planet to planet within a given cluster area, but who knows. Perhaps intrepid explorers might find others that lead somewhere different!
FOUR: Planet Contest Winner

With 5 out of 17 votes, the winner of the planet contest is the most difficult planet to spell, Vhaendath! There will be an event centered around travel to Vhaendath in the summer after consultation with Royce Melborn's player, Flurry.

FIVE: A Gift
For everyone who participated in the planet creation, discussing space with Zephyr, or who helped Ienzo to name the stars, they will receive a magic/high-tech telescope from Zephyr. When pointed at the sky, it will have an overlay showing constellations and their names, and star, planet, and galaxy names.

SIX: Final
We will make updates to the setting page associated with all of these changes, but please assume that they have taken place as of 4/15. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to drop us a note in the comments below.

Hey Team,

We have updated the Calendar through July 2019! Due to our next worldhop extending over the month, we'll be leaving July as a free month for any additional mod plots so everyone can wrap things up and do their own follow-up/non-event stuff!

Hey Team,

We have updated our Setting Page and FAQ Page to remove some info that's no longer relevant and update with new questions and locations. The Setting Page now features the Soft-Server Well (under Flora) and the Bathhouse.

What do you think of the new organization/collapsible structure for the Setting Page? Is it easier? We may reorganize the FAQ Page if people like the style for the Setting Page. Please let us know!

Hey Team,

As we enter our final week of the Libra's Chariot event, some decisions by the characters need to be made regarding the fate of the NPCs and the station itself.

The following information is available at this point for any character to have discovered:

  • The Docking Bay is repaired and there are shuttles with tractor beams that can move space debris and also potentially the station itself if enough are coordinated.

  • The asteroid critters are Tech Mimics that can be used to repair the station if they're shown how repair tools work and are directed to damaged areas.

  • A spare propulsion system can possibly be taken from Beta Station, which is nearby, but has gone unexplored.

  • There are no exterior shields for Libra Station, but something could potentially be put on to protect it from debris.

  • First Officer Forven Lau left behind a program that will allow characters to alter Madame and the MODs' directives at-will. Madame is unable to alter her directives and may crash temporarily if pushed on the point of them. The directive modification program was found by Meulin and Aeleus in the library before breech in the Recreation Bay occurred. The Bulletin Board notice of the finding of that card is here.

    Madame's current directives:
    1. Protect and maintain the Chariot Unit.
    2. Provide the crew with whatever assistance they request.

    The MODs' current directives:
    1. Conduct trials according to the Truth-seeker Code to bring justice to the people of Meridian.
    2. Obey all orders by the crew unless it conflicts with the first directive.
    3. Provide the crew with all requested and necessary assistance.
    4. Maintain Libra Station per Madame's orders.

  • The people in the Chariot Unit all appear to be slightly bored, young and middle-aged adults. There is a curious dearth of children or elderly individuals. Unfortunately, the screen to view the goings on inside the Chariot Unit was destroyed. Madame has noted that a physical transfer of data from the Chariot Unit would need to occur. She does not personally have access to data to transfer it. It will be up to the characters to do something.

All of that being said... time to make some decisions. The end of this event will depend heavily on the actions of characters participating and what they decide to do. Things to consider for plotting:
  1. Does your character want to save Libra Station, itself?
There ARE viable ways to do this that will protect the station from the debris field, repair the station, and potentially move it out of the debris field.

  2. Does your character want to save Madame?
There ARE viable ways to do this. She is currently unwilling to leave Libra Station due to her directives requiring her to protect the Chariot Unit, though. Characters would have to forcibly remove her, reprogram her, or find a way to bring the Chariot Unit with them.

  3. Does your character want to save the Chariot Unit?
There ARE viable ways to do this. Either by wishing for something from Zephyr... or if someone wants to do a final search of the Habitation Bay, there is something plot relevant there that will assist with this effort.

  4. Does your character want to save the MODs?
Why, tho? There ARE viable ways to do this. They can be reprogrammed with simple directives. They will not leave the station unless they are reprogrammed or the Chariot Unit is preserved.
Please leave a comment below with what actions your character(s) will be taking so that these can be pulled into play for the finale. Please also feel free to plot here with others for threads whether it's a fight or a group effort to do something in particular.

A hull fracture has occurred in the Recreation Bay. This is an opportunity for characters to be rescued or to get their rescuer on if anyone is in there at the time of the fracture.

You can play out any rescuer/rescuee and attempted repair scenarios under this section of the event!
