Event: Metronome (Plotting)

On November 15th, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside. Those who can measure their time in the Meadous in months or more may recognize the short, direct style and what it means the moment they lay eyes on it. Or they might think they know what's going on. This one is just a little different. A shriek rings out across the stars.

Everyone,

Vhaendath is in trouble. It's one of the planets all of you helped me to create. The Clefairy have stolen the weapons the Gilarabrywn protect and they're not giving them back. This is bad. It's really, really bad. The Gilarabrywn are like dragons and they're rampaging, trying to find the weapons. We have to do something, but I've been trying not to stick my hands too much in the middle of it. I really don't want one of your planets to die. Please help? I told the Gilarabrywn we'd help so they'd stop destroying things. =:(

Please meet in the meadow south of the village tomorrow at 3:00pm. I know that's really early for some of you guys who are nocturnal, but this can't wait very long. I'll have the gummi ship you guys helped build ready to go so we can fly anyone who wants to go over there.

Love,
Zephyr

METRONOME

The Events Calendar post for the plot is HERE.

This event will be the Meadous' first planet-hopping adventure, picking up thread from the Paint the Sky Planet Creation Contest.

Vhaendath is the planet created by Royce that received the most votes in the competition. This forested world is home to many beasts, great and small, but the grandest of them all are Gilarabrywn, enormous, dragon-like creatures who guard weapons of great powers:
  • Blackwater - Giant spadone sticking out of a platform, Master Sword style.
  • Thrace - Shattered short sword that lies in pieces on a pedestal.
  • DeLancey - Whip that looks like a rose stem, covered in thorns.
  • Vil - Void-black knife that seems to suck the air out of a room.
It will be up to the characters to locate these items (they've been stolen by precious space Clefairys) and either return them to the Gilarabrywn they belong to or... do something else. Probably something else inadvisable. You see, there's a tiny little catch with these weapons. They have minds of their own, and picking them up, even just a piece, is enough to make a person start acting in a way that the weapon would want.
  • Blackwater - Bravery to the point of possible stupidity.
  • Thrace - Regality, properness and poise and looking down upon those people below you, even friends.
  • DeLancey - Kindness to the point of being taken advantage of. (Why yes, you can eat me, Mr. Tiger! You're just hungry after all!)
  • Vil - Irritability to the point of vicious and murderous fury.
On the afternoon of the 16th, the meadow south of the village will have a carrot-shaped gummi ship waiting to ferry characters who don't have their own means to the new planet. It will make use of the magical gates that characters were given as a Night Sky Perk during the Paint the Sky event. The ship will have enough supplies to last everyone 2 weeks and there will be a Moomba from the Lagoon Island named Rwar who will help to pilot it to its destination.

Zephyr will turn up at the appointed time and explain the following:
  • The dragons are expecting them and will be able to give some instruction, but some are more patient than others.
  • You can use magic portals or other means, but the gummi ship is only going there and back once. It will be at the planet for two weeks or as long as this problem takes to resolve.
  • While they will not allow people to die, if possible, Vhaendath has the training wheels taken off to a large extent. Zephyr's power focus is on the main Meadous planet.
  • THIS MEANS THAT INJURY AND DEATH IS POSSIBLE, but we would ask that everyone be very careful about death and double-check with us first if you're doing anything that can't be immediately undone by another character. Death within the Meadous is a very serious thing for Zephyr.

tl;dr version

  • Naughty Clefairys stole some sick magic weapons from a bunch of dragons. The dragons are super upset about this and want their weapons back.
  • Characters can help to return the weapons, but they're dangerous to hold because they can have weird effects on your character.
  • It's a new planet! For those who don't want to help with the Clefairy Problem, there will be prompts for exploration, as well.
In order to gauge how we need to break-up/scatter the weapons, please fill in the sign-up form below if you intend to participate in this aspect of the event! Sign-ups end on November 16th at 11:59 PM PST.
