Event: Libra's Chariot (Plotting)
On the 10th of March, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside. It's the sort of direct and short communications they may be growing used to for the godling’s messages about other worlds.
Everyone,
I heard another voice across the planes. She says she can’t do this alone. She’s been alone for too long.
Please meet me at the playground tomorrow at 3:00 PM. I know that's really early for some of you guys who are nocturnal, but this can't wait very long.
Love,
Zephyr

LIBRA’S CHARIOT
The Events Calendar post for the plot is HERE
This event will entail the Meadous' fifth foray into world-hopping.
Zephyr has, once more, heard someone calling out across the planes and means to help them. On the morning of March 10th, the archway on the path next to the playground will become active in the Mirror Dimension. Those with senses related to space/time will get a reading that there is something 'off' about it. Looking at it through the silver kaleidoscope located in the playground will show that the archway is covered and absolutely roiling with Stardust. Stardust is usually associated with living things.
Zephyr will turn up at the appointed time and explain the following:
Welcome to Libra Station, home of Chariot Unit Receptacle 13.
Stepping aboard, characters will be able to find the following information very easily via intuitive touchscreen interfaces scattered about the station:
The MOD has been tasked with assigning organic crewmembers to participate in the Truth-Seeker Justice System. There are a plethora of crimes that were committed prior to launching the Chariot Units. It’s the MOD and Truth-Seeker’s job to identify and punish criminals with immediate release of the truth to all immediate acquaintances and subsequent deletion of the criminal from the Chariot Unit. This is where you come in!
Unfortunately, even as computer code, there’s so much information that the MOD cannot process human memories and emotions. Organic brains are far superior computers and will be used as such. Characters who visit Libra Station may be randomly selected to have memories of potential NPC criminals and NPC witnesses implanted into their heads. This is so that the Truth-Seeker (another lucky random selection) can ask questions and determine the Truth of the matter.
Truth-Seekers will be both investigators and judges. They will ask questions of the potential criminal and any witnesses, and ultimately determine if a potential criminal is guilty. There will be no pain to a PC if the NPC whose memories they’ve received is deleted. No physical pain, anyway. Just the knowledge for everyone involved that they’ve deleted that particular NPC from the Chariot Unit permanently. And that all of the facts that came out at ‘trial’ will be disseminated to the nearest and dearest to both the guilty NPCs and their victims.
But while all of that is going on, there’s another problem. Libra Station is in danger of being destroyed by the meteor field it’s been trapped in for millenia. The propulsion system has been lost. Neither of the other stations can be raised on the comms. It will be up to the characters to sort out how to fix this… or if they want to let the station be destroyed for good. After all, there’s nothing really alive here.

Zephyr will turn up at the appointed time and explain the following:
- The archway is a portal to another world.
- The only access to the proper archway is through the Mirror Dimension. (Zephyr doesn't want anyone accidentally stumbling in there.)
- The archway is a two-way connection to another realm. They DO NOT have control over that other realm. The only thing they can make sure of there is that there are no other connections. Characters can go to the new realm from the Meadous and come back to the Meadous from the new realm.
- THIS MEANS THAT INJURY AND DEATH IN THE OTHER REALM IS OUTSIDE THEIR DIRECT CONTROL.
- They're not sure who was calling for help. Zephyr couldn't make out any words except ‘justice.’.
Welcome to Libra Station, home of Chariot Unit Receptacle 13.
Stepping aboard, characters will be able to find the following information very easily via intuitive touchscreen interfaces scattered about the station:
- Libra Station is part of the Chariot Launch Program, an effort by the planet of Meridian to preserve its people ahead of a predicted meteor strike.
- Everyone had their consciousness copied and uploaded into one of three Chariot Units and these were launched into space around the planet.
- Beta, Delta, and Libra are the stations circling Meridian… or the asteroid field that was once Meridian if characters take a gander out the windows.
- Libra station is completely devoid of organic life.
- Libra Station is a space station home to artificial lifeforms and the digital copies of people who once lived on Meridian; it is slowly being destroyed by space debris.
- Characters may be randomly selected to become a Truth-Seeker or to house the memories of a potential criminal or witness during a ‘trial.’ The Truth-Seeker will ultimately decide the fate of a potentially-criminal NPC. Those found guilty will be deleted.
- The goal is to figure out what to do about THAT whole system and to maybe help figure out a way to fix Libra Station so that it can maneuver out of the debris field it’s trapped in... Or not. That choice is up to the characters!

General Questions
Terri is in charge of this plot and will be responding to questions. The other mods have had minimal input on the plot design and what will happen.
May I opt out?
Yes! Your character can simply not enter Libra Station.
Can we talk to Zephyr?
Zephyr will be available through the usual means, as needed.
NEW UNIVERSE! Can my space-hopping character go hog wild and escape the Meadous?
No. That is the only vestige of real control that Zephyr retains. Characters can universe hop between The Meadous and Libra Station, but that's it.
What about powers, in general?
Zephyr's training wheels are more or less off on character powers on Libra Station. However, characters may find that certain tech-related abilities aren’t going to work this round. Or they will work erratically. Otherwise, your characters will be fully powered over there WITH THE EXCEPTION of game-breaking abilities. Please use discretion and make sure you talk to your fellow players if your actions are going to have a major impact on their characters.
What about hacking? Can my character hack all the things?
They are certainly welcome to try! Hacking skills are not strictly necessary to obtain information in this event, though. Madame, the MOD, or the regular interfaces will provide information that will help low-tech characters contribute to searching and interacting with environment.
What if we die on Libra Station?
Zephyr has very minimal control and connection to Libra Station. If your character dies in there, they will be collected by the MOD and moved to the Medical Bay. After two days, they will mysteriously reawaken in the Medical Bay, having only vague memories of the previous days. The level of healing for any injuries will be up to player discretion. They may be fully healed or left with some terrible scarring/other side effects.
Can I bring an NPC out of Libra Station and into the Meadous?
You can certainly try in the IC portion of the event! =:3
Where do characters arrive on Libra Station?
Characters will arrive in the Central Hub Lounge! The archway to the Meadous is there and will remain so for them to come and go.
Truth-Seekers and Trials
1. Fact is sacrosanct; there can be no truth without facts.
2. Impartiality is key; justice can only thrive in objectivity.
3. Emotion is impractical; never allow compassion to muddle the truth.
4. Be diligent; every victim deserves respect and will have their truth known.
5. All facts discussed at a hearing will be made public and sent directly to all of those involved
in the hearing and all persons with Tier 1 relationships to those involved.
What is a Truth-Seeker?
Essentially, it’s an Ace Attorney-style lawyer. You’re given some information, and then you sit down in a room with the potential criminal and any witnesses and interrogate them to try to figure out what’s going on.
How are Truth-Seekers selected?
It is an ICly random assignment. Your character will be asked politely by the MOD to follow her into a room where the trial will begin. If a character resists, the MOD will temporarily sedate them (in whatever way that may mean for your character), and carry them to the room. All participants for the trial will be locked in for duration of the trial.
OOCly, you will sign your characters up for the position.
How are potential criminals and witnesses chosen?
As with Truth-Seekers, these are ICly random assignments. The MOD will ask a character to follow her and will be led to the Medical Bay where they will be placed on a bed. Memories will be inserted into them non-invasively. If a character tries to resist, the MOD will temporarily sedate them. Once memories have been uploaded, the potential criminal or witness will be taken to the trial room.
What kinds of memories will be uploaded?
Those surrounding the criminal event. Characters will experience all emotions associated with the memories and depending on your OOC preference, they may experience confusion and trouble separating themselves from those memories (i.e., they might think they’re actually the NPC for the duration of the trial) or they may be able to recognize the memories and emotions as something outside of themselves and deal with it more objectively.
Where are trials held?
Around the base. There’s no one particular area. The MOD will go where there is space available and no other characters are at the time.
How long are trials?
Trials will last a maximum of 1 hour. After that, the potential criminal will be assumed guilty and deleted from the Chariot Unit. Better to be overly cautious than allow the riff raff to continue taking up space in a valuable server.
What happens to a potential criminal that is found guilty?
They are deleted completely from the Chariot Unit. The PC who has those memories can ask the MOD to remove them from their head, as well (same procedure as putting them in) or hold onto the copy of the memories they have of that deleted NPC.
What happens if someone is found not guilty?
Their copy in the Chariot Unit is informed that they’re in the clear and provided the information that came out at trial. All trial information will be made available to the potential criminal NPC, the witnesses, and the people closest to them. So, if an embarrassing truth is what swings the trial? Everyone important in that NPC’s life is going to know it. Again, PCs can choose to retain the NPC memories implanted into them or have them removed.
What happens if the Truth-Seeker gets it wrong and convicts an innocent or doesn’t convict someone who’s guilty?
The MOD will not do anything. They will simply live with the knowledge that they let a criminal go free or that someone who did not commit the crime of which they were accused has been permanently deleted.
What kinds of crimes can we expect to deal with?
Murder, Theft, or Arson. The potential content warnings attached to these are below in the sign-up section. PLEASE note which elements you do not want to deal with, and we will tailor the crime/trial facts appropriately.
How are people being grouped for this portion of the event?
You have two options here.
OPTION 1: Find two people you want CR with. You three will decide who will be the Truth-Seeker, the Potential Criminal, and the Witness for a trial. Sign-up as a group (only one of you needs to post the sign-up).
OPTION 2: Sign-up for random assignment. Just indicate which positions you'd be comfortable with (Truth-Seeker, Potential Criminal, or Witness). As with the Friend and Foe event, those who choose this option will receive 20 bonus points to be used for AC this month or wishes in the future.
Questions
Re: Questions
SORRY FOR THE EDITS I'm trying to phrase this in a way that makes sense but also isn't super fiddly - basically, I'm wondering if the crime details you'll be assigning will be more along the lines of "this criminal set fire to a house and one person died" and we can come up with the rest as wanted/needed, or if most of the details will be pre-assigned à la "Stephen Johnson, a middle-aged man who had a rough childhood, set fire to his former doctor's house because he wanted revenge against him for botching his plastic surgery".
no subject
Example:
"John Doe has a girlfriend who was cheating on him. He's a bit of a drinker and he just got so angry. He shoved her when they were fighting and she fell and cracked her head on the sink and died instantly."
You'd be free to make up the name of John Doe's girlfriend and any other details about their relationship, why he's a drinker, that sort of thing. We will be PMing details to each group member once groups are assigned and you'll be free to reveal as much of the info or as little as would be IC for your characters.

OPTION 2: Random Assignment
POTENTIAL CONTENT WARNINGS
Re: Sign-ups (Closing: Friday, 3/8, 11:59 PM)
Positions Desired: Criminal
Preferred Crime: Anything goes!
Content Warnings: I have no particular topics I need to avoid, but if we're allowed to make requests beyond that - I'd love for him to get someone who isn't 100% sociopathically heinous! A shitty person who committed a serious and/or violent crime would be fine, and they don't have to be a woobie with a tragic past or anything, but if at all possible I'd like to avoid a situation where Alfie ends the trial going "holy shit, even I don't want this complete monster in my head". If requests to that extent aren't kosher, though, that's cool; I can work with anything.
Partial Group
Potential Criminal: Alfie Solomons
Witness: ???
Preferred Crime: Anything goes!
Content Warnings: If mutilation is part of the story we get, I would personally like to avoid any graphic descriptions of skinning.

Note: If the number of sign-ups don't divide neatly into teams, please drop Stephen from the roster if it will help you make assignments. I'm excited to play and will be prioritizing event threads this month, but since I already have Ecks on a team I'm alright if Stephen sits this part out.

Libra Station
While working on Libra Station, you might have the opportunity to interact with one of our Multi-Operational Droids. These MODs are approximately 3.5 feet tall and here to facilitate your work aboard Libra Station. Please use the terminals scattered throughout the station to summon a MOD when you have questions, need assistance with repairs, or when you need a friend. The MODs are equipped with advanced Emotional Protection and Therapeutic Healing (EmPaTH) subroutines. They are here for you.
If the MODs are unable to assist, you might consider contacting the Chariot Unit Receptacle 13 (CUR13) AI, Madame. She is the core AI in control of Libra Station and can provide information and access to various areas around the station. She is constantly monitoring all activity within the station, including within the Chariot Unit and issuing orders to the MODs for necessary repairs.
Libra Station is made up of six branches surrounding the central command hub and lounge where the Chariot Unit is housed:
- The Medical Bay - An advanced facility using Cochran technology to heal all wounds and even raise the seemingly dead to life! Basic medical supplies are located here. Please contact a MedBay worker if you need assistance or call for a MOD. They can operate all machinery, as necessary. The MedBay also houses all research facilities on the station. There are backroom labs that are accessible and house a variety of mundane and technological scientific equipment.
- The Storage Bay - Where extra supplies and equipment are stored. It has been severely damaged due to meteor strikes and is dangerous to enter. The MOD will discourage people from going in here, but if they're determined, she'll show them where they can get space suits to deal with the lack of atmosphere in there.
- The Engineering Bay - Where the station power system and propulsion are located. This is another dangerous area that has been severely damaged. Space suits are required for entry.
- The Habitation Bay - Where hydroponics, the mess hall, and sleeping quarters are located. The sleeping quarters, themselves, vary, but they typically include a large, shared living room, shared bathroom, and four 2-person bedrooms. Food in the mess hall is dispensed by replicator units. Just punch in what you want. The majority of foods that could be found on Earth are available.
- The Recreation Bay - A place for fun! Or... as much fun as you can possibly have on an empty space station. There are entertainment systems, including immersive, 3D video games, a library, sports courts for things like basketball and tennis, and a gym.
- The Docking Bay - Home to shuttles that can ferry characters to and fro. The main docking gate has been damaged and will need repaired before shuttles can launch.
There will be a section of the IC post devoted to searching Libra Station. Characters may search alone, but they will be more likely to find useful information and items when in groups of at least two.Plotting
