Game Feedback Post - End-of-Year 2018

Hey Team,

Our last feedback post was in July, so we thought we'd open the floor to more feedback now that it's been a little while. Below is a review of the feedback we received from you guys and how we've been working to implement it.

1. World Hops and Timing
We received comments that world hops were both too frequent and too infrequent and that people generally enjoy them for the conflicts they can raise to shake things up and keep RP fresh in an otherwise SoL setting. To address this issue, we suggested and have implemented a policy of having one worldhop every 3-4 months. We have also extended the world hops, where possible, to last for 3 IC weeks (though with only 2 weeks of heavy mod NPCing).

Is this still a good length of time between world hops? Have the hops fulfilled expectations/given you material to work with? Are there any themes, particularly, that you would like us to explore in future world hops?

2. Make Use of the OOC Comms for Communication
We received comments that players would like us to make use of the OOC comms to communicate major events during plots and allow people to plot so that no player is left behind! We have instituted a 24-hour notice policy on the OOC comm for world hop events (particularly).

Has this policy helped in terms of feeling updated on events/major twists? Is there something more we can do?

3. More Zephyr-centric/Interactive Events
We received comments that folks would like more opportunities to directly interact with Zephyr in events beyond contact over the Bulletin Board. We had an event focused on their birthday/the game anniversary, and will have another heavily Zephyr-centric event in April 2019. Given the intensity of the NPCing for Zephyr-centric events, we're trying to space them a little to keep all of the mods sane. But we can shuffle around duties if this is something that folks would still like to see more of.

Do you feel like Zephyr is accessible as an NPC through the Bulletin Board? Are there ways that you would like them to be more generally accessible? Are there particular issues you'd like your characters to explore with Zephyr?

4. Incorporate Events that will 'Force' Participation
We received comments that it would be nice to have events that are less avoidable for characters who might be ICly reticent. This is a bit harder for us to implement on an IC level outside of world hops due to Zephyr being focused on consent from their flock. We have tried to incorporate some setting change-based events to address this.

Do setting changes work for people with reticent characters? Are there any other ideas you guys have for how to balance the OOC desire for muns to participate and the IC nature of the game that generally requires consent from Zephyr? We'd also like to incorporate more spirit companions/magical changes into future events to give characters a wide variety of Zephyr 'homework assignment' prompts to hopefully prompt participation in events. Are there any of these types of events/transformations you would be particularly interested in? Examples of these types of events include the Hearts (daemons) event, the recent Fairy Tale event, and the alchemy event.

5. Incorporate More Themes about Death/Dying and Coming to Terms
We received comments that this is an area that characters would specifically like to explore further. We have tried to consistently approach this from a sideways angle through world hops, often giving them some bittersweet aspect. With the most recent world hop that incorporated Shadows, this was meant to give players some direct flexibility in addressing these questions with their characters, as well as, other challenging themes.

6. Themes
We received feedback that it would be good to have a post specifically looking at themes/Zephyr's character traits that players would like to explore. We put up this post to acquire that info. The most direct event to result from this post was the current 4th Wall, Beta Testing. The suggestion that Inventing/Building be one of Zephyr's focus areas and the presence of multiple tech-inclined characters in the Meadous throughout its existence is how we have tried to incorporate that. We will be continuing to build that out.

Are there any other themes you're interested in, particularly, that might help facilitate healing for your characters? Please feel free to continue responding on the Plot and Theme Preferences. We will be drawing from this post for future event ideas.

7. Other Feedback
Are the wishing mechanics working for everyone? Are the NPCs engaging when they turn up? Is our OOC response time appropriate? Are we addressing your concerns as you feel we should? What can we do to make your game experience better?

How are you feeling about non-worldhop events? Are you enjoying the variety? Are there types you'd like to see more of? Less of?

Do you have any player plots you'd like to advance? We are always open to these! Please just hit us up and we'll arrange them in the calendar.
