Event Plotting Post: Gifted

On the 19th of December, residents of the Meadous will wake to a note from Zephyr at their bedside. It seems another assignment has arrived! The note will read as follows:

Hi Everyone,
We're having our first group project today! Teacher said it's the one time we'll get to touch each other's worlds so we can learn and grow a little more from one another. Since I'm pretty advanced, Teacher wanted me to team up with some of the littler gods. I'm with [arcane symbols that bring a sense of something wet, something cold, then hot and soft, and a sensation of feeling dwarfed] and [arcane symbols that bring a sense of laughter, something glowing, something racing in the dark, and the taste of copper in the back of your throat]. They're both really sweet!

What we have to do is give you abilities! It's perfect for this time of year in the Meadous, right? :) It's only for a week and it will only be one thing, but we'll try really hard to make it great! If you want to join in, just check yes and think really hard about what you want. It's okay if you don't want to join, though. Everyone has to help with the project and I know the others aren't as familiar with you and the Meadous. There might be a few little hiccups. But I promise I'll fix them if you let me know they're happening! I'm going to be trying to work with their worlds, too, but I'll keep checking in on the Meadous.

GIFTED

The Events Calendar post for the plot is HERE

This is a week-long event with a single power gain for characters who wish to participate. It is, unfortunately, a gain that comes with some problems. Zephyr's partners aren't malicious, but they are inexperienced. Those wishing for abilities will find their gifts quickly turn to 'curses' in the vein of 'too much of a good thing.' Did you always wish you could breathe underwater to visit the ocean floor? Congrats! You have new gills... that will slowly take over and leave you unable to breathe outside of the water. But look at this awesome new ocean home?

For those suffering under the effects who wish some relief before the week is out, contacting Zephyr directly will reduce the gift's effects for a day or two. They'll turn back to more of a curse until the week is out, though. For those very upset by their gift/curse, Zephyr will completely remove it, if asked.

As for the other gods, they'll leave their little touches on the Meadous. These effects will be revealed next month!


How far can we take these gifts/curses?
Anything game-breaking is out, but otherwise, the sky's the limit. Please keep in mind that the curse side of the gift should be in the spirit of 'too much of a good thing' and non-violent. For instance, you wouldn't have a case where you wished for the ability to defeat all your enemies and then find yourself randomly attacking or hurting people. What you might find is that you are now unable to stop challenging everyone who is even the slightest bit impolite to you to a duel - of Chinese checkers... which you are now ace at.

Can my character recognize the touch of the other gods or their names?
For those who encountered and spoke/interacted with these gods, you may certainly do so! They are the godling who put Hajime in the hamster ball and the godling who spoke with Natalie in the plant.

May I opt out?
Yes! You do not have to have your character receive a gift/curse. And even characters who do accept Zephyr's offer can completely opt-out mid-week if it's too much.

Can we talk to Zephyr?
Yes! They will only be available at their Mailbox, as they will be busy, but they will be available. And apologetic for their partners taking things too far.

Soooo I'm just gonna nabs that gills thing because I've been wanting something to this general idea since forever. It's something really close to his backstory in good and very bad ways. Being able to try it for a week would seem a safe way to do it for him. The irony...

He'll be keeping his new gills the whole week he's not going to be able to send much in the way of messages to zephyr unless someone does it for him. He may attempt voodoo to communicate but considering that's a power of fear, it may not go well. :')

I expect to have a ton of fun with this.

So Hajime's going to wish to understand emotions better...and he'll start out being somewhat empathetic, which is going to turn into his being very emotional by the end of the week. He'll laugh, he'll cry, he'll try very hard to pretend this never happened.

Daigo is going to wish he can fly. So volunteers to get the handle of the balloon he'll become are appreciated :p

Natalie has an emotion-related wish, but a different one than Hajime's! She'll wish to have better control over her emotions and not fly off the handle so much. Which will start off with being calmer and much less anxious... and finish with her just not being able to feel stuff.

Total role reversal, go! :D

The Psiioniic is going to get healing for this event! That means a few things - for starters, he's going to have your standard troll eyes (he'll actually have a pupil and iris!), he'll be able to fix injuries that might come from power mishaps, aaand anything he touches will "heal" itself. Bitten food will regenerate, torn fabric will knit back together, so on and so forth.

(The food part is going to be the most irritating part, and he won't even be able to smash a plate to vent his frustrations.)

The Disciple didn't take this at all seriously and went with the first thing that popped into her head. So, for this event, she'll be a cat. Not literally a cat but with cat-like features (tail, ears, retractable claws, etc) and slowly gaining cat-like behaviors until they completely take over. This includes leaving dead thing gifts for friends and attacking moving objects. It'll be great and not at all make her want to hide in her hive for a week afterwards. Fur sure.

Bertie will be wishing that people understand him better as there are many who seem to have trouble with that. Unfortunately, this is going to be twisted to him saying what he means instead of dancing around points and lying to make peace. So, if anyone would like a blunt and honest Bertie Wooster chucked in their direction, do let me know!

Ienzo's going to be asking for some help with his recent gardening project and, as with everyone else, getting more than he bargained for. It'll start out with being able to hurry plants along in their growth cycles like he was trying to do in his last open, before escalating steadily - it'll happen whether he's trying to do it or not, then any seeds near him will start germinating regardless of whether they're planted, and finally wildflowers and grass will start springing up wherever he walks even if it doesn't make any sense for plant life to grow there or not.

So! If anyone wants any of their lingering unharvested crops to suddenly grow to county fair prizewinner proportions or have any structures spontaneously covered in vines, he's your man for the duration of this event.

Waspfire is going to ask to be really fast. Unfortunately, this is going to translate to "everything at increased speed but without improved reflexes or reaction times" and she's going to continue to get faster as the week goes on, so while at first she'll be able to be very careful and manage, her speed is going to badly outstrip her ability to process her surroundings effectively by the end of the week.

She's going to be running into things a lot. Like walls. And furniture. And trees, if she's stupid enough to go out into the woods. And probably people. You thought she was a menace before? Someone probably better point out that getting on her bike in this state is a bad idea.

Lin will be asking for the power to easily understand what Bertie and Izzy are saying. Over the course of the week, she'll be talking more and more like both of them at once, until she ends up near-incomprehensible herself.

Spirit, who has been toying with wishing to get his ability to transform back into his weapon form back, is totally going to blurt that he'd like to do that. And it's gonna be great! For a little while!

Until he can't really completely control it completely. Gets stuck. Then, forced into weapon form. Then, forced with like part of himself in weapon form and can't transform back. It's all right, since he's been known to be good with form manipulation. It's going to be uncomfortable at times and downright painful at others, and it will ultimately end up with him stuck in his weapon form entirely. Which means he's as mobile as a scythe can be. Which, protip? Means not mobile at all.

Milla

Milla isn't taking the wishing very seriously and wishes she could forget some of what happened to her in Panem. NATURALLY this will go awfully, so she'll start losing chunks of memory as time goes on. Mostly bits of long term and short term memories. Anyone who talks with her will get to hear the same shit over and over.

Eddie

Eddie being incredibly sad over Sasha being gone, so he wishes he could be happy. Eddie will pretty much be stuck being HAPPY at everything. He'll probably cry and still laugh at everything. Just very conflicted and awkward emotions. Since he's stuck with a smile and can't shift.
