Greetings all!

I'm Bree and I was here with Mary here about 2 years ago.  Then real life happened...
Then I saw the EMP and saw that there was a Sherlock cast here now, so I couldn't NOT come back.

Mary will have all of her previous WtL game memories and she will be waking up from a HECK OF A NAP.  She originally hails from The Box where she experienced a lot of emotional and physical traumas.

I hope to get her game wake-up post made tomorrow, but might not happen until the 1st (just depends how crazy the next few days are.)

Looking forward to Mary meeting all the new characters and reconnecting with folks she knows - and her being confused that John and Sherlock know nothing about The Box.

Also, please excuse any messes in her journal as I clean things up and get them reorganised for moving forward in the game.

Huzzah! Glad to have you back, Bree, and looking forward to the opportunity for John to meet Mary since he's from a canon point before meeting her at the moment. And she, Sherlock, and John will all be next door neighbors!

She might find said neighbors have quite a few add-ons, including a barn and fenced area for Sally Donovan the Cow, a small graveyard fill with murder victims from around the multiverse for Sherlock to sort out, and a clinic!

He actually has some regular-ish visitors who come in for minor conditions. It's not great and exciting work, but he likes making himself available and helping people where he can, you know? There's also an Alsatian named Black Bart that's part of their faux Baker Street house/flat/thing. He is the best case dog, yes he is!

I'm looking forward to ALL the time and multi-verse shenanigans that will ensue with this lot. Including the angst.

Thanks! I do have a question for you sort of relevant to the fairy tale thing, what is your stance on fourth walling? In Renart's world the Sherlock Holmes book series existed so she knows about their literary counterparts. Are you okay with that for Mary or would you rather her being fictional isn't brought up?

I'm not against it from a general stance. However, if you're looking for 'dramatic effect' or something like that, it won't work well since her story/background is so different from the novels.

Yeah no worries, I've seen BBC Sherlock. c: It's just a thing that has come up since the rest of the cast is cool with it and Sherlock wished for the books (and I think BBC DVDs?).

Yup, Sherlock owns both - we PM'd a little before I submitted my reapp.

The problem is that Mary is from the end of HLV and there were some creative liberties I took in The Box, since at the time it was going to be such a long wait before TAB aired. Given that I left the Box before that episode aired, I have no way to fix things and she's pretty AU (though given all The Box things, she's AU anyway, she's still not sure if she's 'real' or not because of a Clone event that happened.)

So, I would say, 4th walling could break her even more psychologically. I'm not opposed to that. But, she is an assassin, so just be prepared for IC consequences should she be more broken without some healing happening too. (OMG she is SOOOO screwed up from the Box.)

It's all good! Renart generally doesn't go around blabbing about this stuff since people normally don't react very well to learning they're fiction (Sherlock is about the only one who has been cool with it so she talks about it with him, but John is super uncomfortable about it so she avoids mentioning it around him).

I always feel conflicted about 4th Walling, because OOC I'm not opposed to it, but IC it would do such bad things to Mary :|

If you're looking for CR potential, Mary's story from the Box is pretty terrible/sad/interesting, and she really hasn't told anyone in the Meadous about it, so that might be a good story to try to get her to tell...

Also, it's going to be confusing enough for her that John and Sherlock know nothing about The Box (even though they were there)! Not to mention the whole "What do you mean I slept for 2-ish years???"

So basically, lots of story potential going on :)

Wtl is a very good game for traumatized characters I mean look at the mass of snobos. Renart is not the kind of person to treat trauma victims with kid gloves but her Few Actual Good Traits include being patient as fuck, insanely chill 99% of the time, realistic about life being a total crap hole, and A Good Mom.

This is when she isn't being a total trash mammal, mind you.

Oh WtL is really great for screwed up characters. It took all the way until I did a game canon update before Mary told anyone really important about her. Just looking over the list, it seems most of those characters are gone or retired, so she'll need a new group of people anyway.

That said, Renart sounds like the perfect combination of things that Mary could use in a friend. Kid gloves drives her crazy, but patience and realistic opinions are really really good things.

Hello and welcome!

Sherlock will be so happy to see Mary that he might do a little cry. SAVE HIM, MARY, JOHN HAS BEEN HITTING ON OTHER WOMEN AND NONE OF THEM ARE SUITABLE!!!! He's had to cockblock at least twice, it's getting tiring.

He usually comes with a small menagerie of animals these days as well. He has Sally the cow, wished for because he wanted milk for his tea. Black Bart the Alsatian, a gift from John. And Berit the Savannah cat, who is his Heart (like in the Phillip Pullman books, if you're familiar), who arrived for a previous event and never left.

I also play Bucky Barnes here, who is very good friends with John and so will be interested to meet (and by 'meet', I mean 'stalk') his future wife. He's sort of an anti-social and paranoid butt, though, so apologies for him in advance.

I know we've PM'd about it a bit, but for those reading the different threads here: Mary is so screwed up from her time in The Box that she might avoid/be scared of John and Sherlock at first. Then she'll just be confused that they know nothing about The Box. It will be sad and painful and delicious and hopefully there will be some healing happening too, eventually :D

I kind of skimmed my old threads last night and of the people she might have told, only one is still in-game, so she's doing a lot of 'carrying the pain around and not talking about it'. Which will make their first meeting probably a disaster. I apologise in advanced. But I will say one of the things that attracted me to this game was the potential for healing her from Boxy things.

Also, it seems very Sherlockian to collect Menageries. The Sherlock in the Box had a bit of that as well :D

It's cool, she won't be the only one avoiding Sherlock. He hasn't exactly been endearing himself to the Meadous since he arrived (he staged his own murder for a game and then got actually murdered), soooo... yeah.

It's terrible, but the fact that he faked his death and ended up murdered might actually win points with Mary? Her relationship with the Sherlock of The Box was... very very bad in the end. :( She'll see that as a bit of justice happening.

Also YAY for such things happening here at WtL now? I mean rainbows and goodness was fun for a bit, but the assassin side of Mary needed MORE.

I'm formulating her intro in my head. Still don't know when it will be posted, but working on it.

Sherlock would be very hurt if Mary, of all people, thought his murder was justified ): But he'll get over it, he'll just mope for a bit. Lots of sad violin music and some more rabbits taped to John's bedroom ceiling.

Things are still lovely and rainbows, and that's glorious. Sherlock is just a massive cock and ruins everything, that's why he was the first (and hopefully last) person to get murdered in poor Zephyr's realm.

I'm Bizzy! I'm also coming back to WtL! I used to play Spirit from Soul Eater and I'm coming in now with Kid, also from Snowblind...I currently play a certain assassin from BBC Sherlock over there as well with the current Sherlock cast. I've never seen another Mary and I'm super hype to see how someone else handles her a lot of times I feel like I'm going "what do how Mary ?????

There are very very few of us around. But I wouldn't use WtL Mary as a measuring stick because, she is so screwed up from the Box it's not even funny. She was in the Box in 2014, so S4 wasn't even being written yet hahaha. We got so much new info from S4 that I didn't know and so she's REALLY AU now. It's embarrassing. But I hope I can at least give you some reading enjoyment. :D

(Gosh AGRa was totally different than what I had been headcanoning, and naming the child was different, and - well, the list goes on. There's nothing I can do to fix it now, though. This whole thing is going to be beautiful and terrible. At least I can hand-wave the child-naming thing to say "well, it's one of the names we were considering". Hard to fix the AGRa stuff, though - unless I go with Lie within a Lie thing, which could work.)

Naw, you aren't! They were edging on being more honest with one another for sure. I need to re-read the threads again to keep things clear for myself, but I do remember their CR very fondly. Bad ass ladies are my fav thing, so I was hype for them becoming
real friends.

TBH, that is... always the way with those two. Sherlock has done his fair share of cockblocking for John with his attempts at flirting with any other ladies. The Milla and John disagreement is amusingly weird/complicated tho. John saw something he wasn't supposed to in Milla's mind, Milla did not appreciate it, and their attempt to talk it out went badly.

She likely will! Having somewhere stable to be will definitely help her find her footing again as a character.

She just sent Sherlock a letter where she said that both Sherlock and John keep her right. And there's where things went horribly wrong in the Box. So, we'll see where that goes. With John? She's just taking her time. John hadn't met her back home yet, sooooo it's going to be all the awkward to be had.

I'm hopeful they'll be able to hash it out. Seeing Sherlock actually be friendly with folks is immensely fun. Especially given his murder mystery made so many characters dislike him wildly (for good reason).

It's more akin to psychic shenanigans/a psychic mind party having some problems. John discovered some tragic backstory Milla wasn't ready to talk about. He went snooping where he wasn't supposed to. Terri and I are digging it tho.

I look forward to alll the awkward. It'll be an adventure watching it unfold as the characters figure stuff out.

Mary is very glad for a familiar face. But she might be scarce for a 'few days'. Living NEXT to Sherlock and John will be great later, right now, it's just hard.
