The Meadous Speaks: Godly Punishments - Results
Thank you to everyone who voted in our poll. We had almost everyone return a vote for their characters! Now onto the exciting part. Results!
Question #1: How should Zephyr handle punishments?
The following received more than 50% of the vote and will be implemented:
Question #2: How should Zephyr communicate punishments and their expectations regarding violence?
Zephyr should include a section in the welcome letter to the Meadous that invites people to tell Zephyr if they have special instances where they'll be fighting with someone. (e.g., If a troll has a kismesis or if two friends regularly fight with one another.)
Question #3: What types of punishments should Zephyr have?
No option except the following received a majority of the vote. Zephyr's punishments SHOULD focus on losing privileges or separating people (e.g., losing wishing privileges, creating invisible force fields to keep people apart) (84%).
Given that Zephyr's punishments will not remain at the status quo, we have a secondary poll regarding this matter located:
HERE
Please respond by Monday at 11:59 PST.
(As before, take the poll one time for each of your characters.)
Question #4: Should theft be punished similar to violence?
There was no majority consensus on this question, but Undecided netted the most votes (40%).
IMPLEMENTATION
From this point forward:
Question #1: How should Zephyr handle punishments?
The following received more than 50% of the vote and will be implemented:
- Zephyr SHOULD intervene in the middle of a physical fight while it is ongoing ONLY if there's a chance for serious harm and/or one person isn't fighting back. (52%)
- Zephyr should contact combatants AFTER a fight and ask them to explain themselves. (64%)
- Zephyr SHOULD take intent into account when considering punishments. (e.g., someone with mental health issues would receive greater leniency if they lash out in fear than those who are simply lashing out in anger, or if someone is fighting back in self-defense.) (72%)

There was no majority consensus on this question, but Undecided netted the most votes (40%).
IMPLEMENTATION
From this point forward:
- Zephyr WILL NOT get directly involved in fights unless they result in moderate to severe injury.
- Zephyr WILL contact participants after and ask for an explanation (this can be hand-waved if it is a minor/petty dispute). Major disputes that result in moderate to severe injury should still be put on the Punishment Page.
- Zephyr WILL take intent into account when assigning punishments. Please bear this in mind if you request a specific punishment for your character. If they were lashing out in fear, we may ask that you choose something less severe if Zephyr would empathize with that character's circumstances.
- Zephyr will include a note about their rules and punishments in the Welcome Letter to the Meadous. It will specifically request that characters who have planned fights or a relationship that involves fighting (e.g., kismesis) let them know.
- Punishments that emphasize the loss of privileges will take the forefront in Zephyr's punishment style.
- Zephyr will consider theft on a case-by-case basis and characters will need to directly contact Zephyr to arbitrate matters of theft.
